If this was most years since the early 2000s, then I’d be immersed in a novel. Writing a novel, even if it didn’t ever see the light of day.
For the past two years, with the demise of National Novel Writing Month, my Novembers have been a little quieter.
I miss #NaNoWriMo.
Even though I write for a living, I write outside of all that. I write outside of my professional work to live more fully. NaNoWriMo was since the early 2000s a way for me to jumpstart a few projects that may or may not see the light of day.
Sometimes I finished; sometimes I did not. It was all good. There’s a reward beyond seeing your work in print. It’s a kind of meditation. It’s finding your line.
This is the second November where NaNoWriMo no mo after essentially imploding. I don’t need a gimmick to write. I’m always writing, no matter where I am or what I’m doing. But it sure was something I looked forward to.
